How to Root Redmi Note 5 Pro

Precautions Before Starting The Rooting Process

Backup

Backup all your personal only for safety reasons. Nothing is wiped out in this tutorial.

Battery

Make sure to charge your phone at least 60% or more to prevent from bricking your phone.

Enable USB Debugging | OEM Unlock

To connect your Android device to PC or laptop first you need enable USB Debugging and OEM. To enable it to follow steps.

  • Go to Settings
  • Select “About Phone” menu from setting
  • Now find ‘MIUI version’ and tap on it seven times.
  • Now You Become Android Developer.
  • Again go to Settings main menu.
  • Select “Additional settings” and now new menu “Developer options” is available here.
  • Open Developer Options
  • Find “OEM Unlock” and click on it to enable it.
  • Now Scroll a little bit more and find “USB Debugging” option.
  • Select “USB Debugging” to Enable It.
  • Now click on OK button, when the window pops-up.

Unlock Redmi Note 5 Pro Bootloader

In order to Install TWRP recovery and Root Redmi Note 5 Pro. first, you need to unlock the bootloader. Follow the easy step by step guide to unlock Mi bootloader.

  • Go to official Mi officially unlock website.
  • Click on “Unlock Now” button.

  • Now login to your MI  account. No need if already login.
  • After login again click on “Unlock Now” button.
  • Fill all information on this page. (Name, Number, Unlocking Reason, Why you want to unlock).

  • Now accept the unlocking Disclaimer and click on “Apply Now” button.
  • You get a confirmation message from Mi on your phone through SMS. It will take some days.
  • When you get a confirmation message, go to Mi Unlock website and download Mi tool from here.
  • Now unzip Mi tool you downloaded.
  • Run the MiFlashUnlock.exe, and sign in with your same Mi-Account.
  • Turn off your Redmi Note 5 Pro.
  • Now hold Volume down key and Power button to enter Fastboot mode.
  • Connect your phone to PC using the USB cable and click “Unlock”.

  • After Unlocking process completed, Now click on “Reboot Phone” button

All done now we are ready to install TWRP Recovery.

Reboot Into Fastboot Mode

  • First of all, shut down your Redmi Note 5 Pro and wait until your device completely turned off.
  • Now press and hold power + volume down at the same time.
  • When you see a new screen with “Fastboot” written on it. Now leave both buttons.
  • Your device will now enter in Fastboot, Connect your Redmi Note 5 Pro to Pc.

Install TWRP Recovery on Redmi Note 5 Pro

To root Redmi Note 5 Pro now we need to install TWRP Recovery. TWRP Recovery is a gateway to all customize you need to do. Installing Custom Rom or any flashing file you need TWRP.

  • Connect your phone to PC or Laptop using USB Cable.
  • Go to the folder where you download TWRP Recovery img file or copy and paste it any folder you want.
  • In that folder, Press & Tap left shift + Right click. Now select “Open command window here” or “Open Powershell window here”.
  • Now new command prompt terminal opens up.
  • To check if your Redmi Note 5 Pro properly connected to PC enter below command in command prompt terminal.

  • To check if TWRP recovery is supported your device and working properly, you can open recovery for temporary by entering below command in command prompt terminal.

  • If phone reboot into a recovery mode that means it works fine on your device. Now flash TWRP recovery for permanently.
  • Again reboot into fastboot mode, to do this open Restart/Reboot option and select Reboot Fastboot.
  • Now when phone again enters into fastboot mode, No type below given command and click enter.

  • Now flashing process begun it may take some time to complete the process.
  • All done, now enter the following command to reboot your device.

Flash SuperSu and Root Redmi Note 5 Pro

After completing all above steps now it is really easy to Root Redmi Note 5 Pro. You can root Redmi Note 5 Pro by flashing SuperSu.

  • Download SuperSu Zip file and transfer it to phones internal or external memory.
  • Boot into TWRP Recovery, to do this ShutDown Device > Press and Hold Volume Up + Power button.
  • Tap Install option and select SuperSu Zip file, you transferred in the first step.
  • Swipe to confirm and begin flashing process.
  • Once flashing complete, Reboot your device.

Congrats, you just Root Redmi Note 5 Pro. SuperSu app is available in the app drawer. Manage all root app from SuperSu app.

Flash Magisk and Root Redmi Note 5 Pro

  • Download Magisk and LazyFlasher Zip file and transfer it to phones internal or external memory.
  • Boot into TWRP Recovery, to do this ShutDown Device > Press and Hold Volume Up + Power button.
  • Tap Install option and select Magisk Zip file, you transferred in the first step.
  • Swipe to confirm and begin flashing process.
  • Again go to install and now select LazyFlasher Zip file.
  • Swipe to begin flashing process.
  • Once flashing complete, Reboot your device.

First boot may take some time to reboot. When device reboot you see the Magisk manager in the app drawer. Manage all rooted app from here. In the magisk manager, you can also hide root from a specific app.
